I found the Defiant development patch from another vendor and am still thinking of what would be a cool article of clothing on which to put it. I also picked up the Delta Flyer model and the Defiant’s dedication plaque from the Eaglemoss table. I got a tiki mug with the likeness of Worf. I was able to exercise some restraint and only bought a handful of items. There’s no shortage of Star Trek stuff to buy in the Vendors’ Room. The performance was much funnier and entertaining than I expected! It’s definitely not for kids though! ) The convention finished with a performance by Star Trek’s Rat Pack, consisting of the actors who played Damar, Rom, Weyoun, Maxwell Forrest, and Neelix. So it’s just regular karaoke…but with Klingons! Surprisingly, they don’t actually sing in Klingonese and neither do any of the people who choose to participate. Klingon Karaoke sounded interesting and it was! Martok and Gowron host the event in full regalia and in character for the most part. Speaking of bars, Ten Forward from the Enterprise-D is also at the convention, although it’s only a set and you have to pay to take a picture if you want to be actually on the set.Īside from the many panels (which consist mainly of Star Trek actors, guest stars, and/or crew talking about themselves and their experiences for 45-minutes to an hour), each night of the convention ends in a party-like celebration. Given that it’s the only place selling food and drinks inside the convention space, it would’ve been nice if some effort was put into making it more on theme than superficial, especially since it was DS9′s 25th celebration. The bar mostly just serves regular drinks and snacks. It’s too bad they couldn’t make this more of a themed bar with more drinks that are based on drinks seen in Star Trek. The Promenade has a Quark’s Bar…which is actually a bit underwhelming. The convention spreads out the love for all of the series and movies pretty well (with the possible exception of the reboot films). Having never been to previous conventions, I can’t say if there were more DS9 events than usual this year, but if there was a focus on DS9, it wasn’t noticeable. Enterprise bridge!Ģ018 also happens to be the 25th anniversary of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, my favorite Trek series, which was another reason I wanted to go to the convention this year. The Original Series’ bridge set was even lit and adorned as the I.S.S. The Mirror Universe was apparently the theme of this year’s convention. After getting reacquainted with my fandom, I decided to go to the annual Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas for the first time. When Star Trek Online announced that they were introducing the option of 3D printing STO ships, it unexpectedly reinvigorated my passion for Star Trek.
